Profiles: Oxhorn vs. Jonathan Coulton
Jonathan Coulton is a singer/songwriter best known for his quirky songs about geeky culture. Many people may not realize that he is the one who wrote “Still Alive”, the popular Portal song that went viral.
Though he started as a spoof artist, doing cover songs such as a cover for sir mix a lot, he has since started producing original music, one of his most famous being “Code Monkeys”.
Jonathan Coulton ties into machinima due to his publication of songs under the Creative Commons License, which allows people to use his songs as they see fit, as long as it is not commercially. This has led to much machinima, particularly World of Warcraft machinima, being made set to his songs.

Jonathan Coulton & Oxhorn
Like Jonathon Coulton, Oxhorn (Brandon M. Dennis) is a geeky singer/songwriter who has created many spoofs and original songs. Like Jonathon Coulton, Oxhorn’s music has gone viral on YouTube, starting with his hit parody “ROFLMAO!”, a spoof of the “Manah manah” song of Muppets fame. Oxhorn, like Coulton, has since created original compositions, his most famous being Tank, Tank, Heal Tank, Gnome Overboard, The Anti-Elf Anthem and An Oxhorn Brand Medley.
You can find Oxhorn and Coulton’s music on iTunes, Amazon MP3, Napster and many other online retailers.
